WELCOME TO MVC FARM
Your starting point for practical biochar production and applied soil regeneration

The farm
Across these valleys and patchwork fields, you will find the essential conditions that make southern Chile one of the most fertile and dynamic agricultural regions in the world: deep volcanic soils, abundant biomass, clean air, and year-round rainfall.
Here, surrounded by pastures, maize fields, clover, and native forest, we teach the complete journey from raw biomass to high-quality biochar.
Visitors walk the same paths that we use every day, observing landscapes that have been managed, restored, and improved using practical, accessible techniques that any landowner can adopt.
This land is more than a farm — it is a living classroom, a working demonstration site, and the home of our practical training program in regenerative agriculture and biochar production.
BIOCHAR APPLICATION

BEFORE
Before applying biochar, the fields show the typical behaviour of volcanic soils that have been under continuous use. Growth is uneven across paddocks, with lighter and more compacted surface layers and visible differences in plant vigour. Moisture retention is weaker, especially during dry periods, leading to patches of lower productivity and areas that simply don't perform as well as others. Although Andisol and Ultisol soils are naturally rich, they gradually lose structure and biological activity as organic carbon declines, and this loss is clearly reflected in the variability of colour, density and uniformity seen in the landscape.

AFTER
After biochar is applied, the change becomes immediately noticeable. The fields develop deeper, richer green tones and the vegetation grows in a far more uniform and vigorous way. Root systems strengthen, pasture density increases, and the soil holds moisture for longer even in weeks with little rain. Productivity becomes more stable across the entire paddock instead of concentrated in isolated zones.
This visible improvement is the direct result of restoring stable carbon to the soil, enhancing its structure, boosting nutrient retention and activating a healthier biological environment.

The training
Whether you are coming from the United States, Europe, or anywhere in Latin America, the MVC Biochar Production Farm is designed to give you real experience in a real environment.
You will see how biochar works in the soil, how it supports healthier crops, and how with simple retort kilns we can turn everyday prunings and brush into long-lasting carbon that stays in the ground for generations.
This is the home of our Practical Biochar Training Courses — an immersive, farmer-to-farmer program that blends fieldwork, hands-on production, soil application, and the foundations of carbon removal.
